A few things worth knowing about your vehicle, straight from our technicians.
A high-pitched squeal when you press the brake pedal can be an early warning that your brake pads are wearing down. While some brake noise can be normal, persistent or worsening noise should be inspected.
A grinding sound is more serious. It can mean the brake pads are severely worn and metal components are contacting the rotor. Continuing to drive this way can turn a relatively simple brake repair into a much more expensive one.
If your vehicle pulls to one side when you brake, there may be an issue with the brake system, such as uneven pad wear, a sticking caliper, or another problem that needs attention.
Pay attention if your brake pedal suddenly feels soft, spongy, unusually hard, or travels farther than normal. Changes in pedal feel can indicate a problem with the braking system and shouldn't be ignored.
If you feel shaking or vibration through the steering wheel or vehicle when braking, it could indicate uneven brake rotors or another brake-related issue. An inspection can determine the cause before the problem gets worse.
Your brakes are one of the most important safety systems on your vehicle. If something doesn't feel or sound right when you brake, it's better to have it inspected sooner rather than later.
For many modern vehicles, an oil change is recommended approximately every 5,000–7,500 miles, but the correct interval depends on your vehicle, the type of oil used, and your driving habits. Your vehicle's dashboard warning lights are designed to alert you when something may need attention. Some lights are simply reminders, while others can indicate a serious problem that should be addressed immediately.
A check engine light can be triggered by something as simple as a loose gas cap or something more serious, such as an engine, emissions, or sensor problem. If the light is flashing, have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible.
This light can indicate low engine oil pressure. Pull over and shut off the engine as soon as it is safe to do so. Continuing to drive with low oil pressure can cause serious engine damage.
If your engine temperature warning light comes on, your engine may be overheating. Stop driving when it is safe and allow the vehicle to cool down. Continuing to drive an overheating engine can result in major damage.
This doesn't necessarily mean your battery is bad. It can indicate a problem with the charging system, such as the alternator, battery, or related electrical components. If the light stays on while driving, have the vehicle inspected.
A brake warning light can indicate low brake fluid, a problem with the braking system, or that the parking brake is engaged. If the light remains on after releasing the parking brake, don't ignore it.
This light usually means one or more tires have low air pressure. Check your tire pressures as soon as possible and inspect the tires for damage.
As a general rule, red warning lights and flashing warning lights deserve immediate attention. If you're unsure what a warning light means, it's better to have it checked than to risk turning a small problem into an expensive repair.

Tires that are not properly inflated create more rolling resistance, which makes your engine work harder and can reduce fuel economy. Check your tire pressure regularly and keep it at the manufacturer's recommended level, which can usually be found on the driver's door-jamb sticker.

Skipping routine maintenance can gradually affect fuel economy. Old engine oil, overdue tune-ups, dragging brakes, or problems with the fuel and ignition systems can all make your vehicle work harder than it should.
